Alpha Group: Session 2 Part 1
Night 2 was a larger group. While one from the first session couldn’t make it we added three new people. Two who were completely new and one who has extensive experience. If you remember, the group was made up of new hires that were guarding two wagons full of goods to a city on an Island state; they were approximately 1 day from making it to the coast.
The original group started off right where they left off, having defeated the gnolls and making camp for the night. They awoke the next morning and continued on their journey to reach a port town where they could board a ship. Their NPC runner had gone ahead during the battle, but no one had noticed. From there he had sent out a request for more help protecting these wagons. Enter new characters.
The group spent the night drinking and hooking up in a tiny port town made up mostly of swarthy looking fishermen. During this time we discovered that one player didn’t quite have a concept of meta-gaming due to the fact that he shouted out in character, “I am a lawful good Paladin, and I disagree with what you are doing!” when he saw the group’s Fighter dragging the groups unconscious Cleric from the bar to an inn. It was rather hilarious but easily explained. He did seem a bit stuck on his alignment and kept asking what a lawful good paladin was allowed to do.
On the insistence of the Cleric, she wanted me to walk the Fighter through taking advantage of her despite her giving consent prior to falling unconscious. Funny enough he rolled quite high so he performed great… with nobody watching. We determined he was shouting out his own name during the act.
Next day they set upon the sea and were attacked by two Fiendish Giant Octopuses. I had hoped the group would figure out that severing the tentacles was the way to go (4 severed and they flee) however they only attacked them when one of their own was grappled. Luckily for them the Octopi rolled terribly and only managed to grapple one at a time despite having 8 attacks. It was 2’s and 6’s the entire time.
They killed both of them with only taking very minor damage and having one broken bow due to a critical failure. After they were dispatched they sailed cleanly to the other side. At this point two players had to leave so they headed to an inn while the others unloaded the boat and hit the town.
